Meet Greg

Greg and Megan Vartan

Public Service

Greg Vartan is proud to represent Ward 2 on Summit's Common Council. He is a passionate leader, dedicated public servant, and lifetime resident of Summit, NJ. Greg is a former member of the Planning Board and was the liaison to the Environmental Commission. He is in his tenth year of service on the Summit First Aid Squad as a volunteer EMT, and was a member of the Board of Trustees. He was also in the first class of the Summit Police Youth Academy, and was asked by the organizing officers to assist with the planning and execution of the program for four years. 

He's committed to the principle that if he has the opportunity to help others, he should.

Professional Experience

When he was 14, Greg began working for Summit Junior Baseball as an umpire, and at 15 began working at the Summit YMCA as a lifeguard and swim instructor. His other non-profit experience includes an impactful tenure at the Madison YMCA. In the private sector, he has honed professional skills working for four years in sales for a leading company in the medical device field. 

Currently, Greg is the Director of Business Development for HENRY, an innovative company founded in NJ, that is driving healthcare delivery forward.

Education

Greg is a proud graduate of Summit Public Schools. While at SHS, he acted in plays, was a Drum Major in the "Pride of Summit" Marching Band, and served as President of the Class.

Greg graduated from Lycoming College with a Bachelor's Dual Degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice. He served an unprecedented three terms as President of the Student Senate and sat on numerous committees including the Presidential Search Committee for the 15th President of the College and Strategic Planning Executive Board.

Personal

Greg and Megan Vartan met while attending Lycoming and were married in August, 2019. Megan has been a member of the Summit Junior Fortnightly Club for several years and works in Market Research. 

They love spending time with family and friends, traveling, and since the arrival of the pandemic have been especially focused on watching Jeopardy and cooking together.
